Junior Competitive (U13 - U18)

Narangba Eagles FC has a strong focus on player development in its approach to junior football. In keeping with this philosophy, we strongly advocate equal playing time for junior players where possible.

From the age of 13, teams compete in a ladder where scores are kept, scorers are noted and the offside rule comes in (as do yellow/red cards!).

Junior Competition

Narangba Eagles FC offers competitive junior football for boys and girls from U13 - U18. These age groups play in Football Queensland's administered competitions. Teams play home and away. Depending on age group and ability, travel times can be up to 1.5 hours.

Fixtures formally become competitive from U13+. Football Queensland requires all clubs to nominate their Junior Competitive teams into divisions according to ability. Where there are more than two teams entered into the same age competition (U13 and above), Football Queensland requires all clubs to organise their age grouped teams into different divisions. Therefore, it is necessary for all clubs to grade individual players according to their level of football development (ability).

All of our junior competitive teams are mixed gender, at least up until U16. With the continuing success of the Matildas and an ever-increasing number of girls registering to play football, Narangba Eagles FC will offer all-girl teams where numbers permit.

Grading Process / Trials

Assessment and grading of player ability is based on individual performance at trial sessions held by the club.

Trials provide an opportunity for all players (returning and new to the club) to be seen by the Technical Team and qualified coaches and allow interim squads to be selected. The more sessions a player attends the greater the opportunity to demonstrate their ability.

Finalised squads will usually to be announced between December and February and when registration numbers are sufficient.

Once graded, players of similar ability will generally be placed in the same team.

Final teams are announced by email. Any queries regarding junior grading should be directed to our Technical Team via email. It is important to remember that teams may not be fully finalised until teams are announced by email.

The overriding intention of grading is to place players into teams of a similar skill level and to enter each team in a division of the competition that is appropriate to their skill level. Placement in the right team is far more important than getting in the top team.

Narangba Eagles FC values all of its members regardless of their level of skill and experience. We
seek to provide for the development of each and every player.
